Designed for adolescents ages 13 to 17, and 18 if still in high school, the Adolescent Affected Family Member program is designed to promote the well-being of those who live or care about a person with an alcohol or other drug issue.

Participants will learn through education and guidance:

  • To be comfortable in their awareness that they are unable to change their loved one.
  • To detach emotionally from the loved one's issue.
  • To love the individual, care about him/her and not care for him/her AND understand, without internalizing the concern.
  • Become familiar with and learn to incorporate the three Cs: cause, controla and cure.
  • You can't "fix" the person, only yourself.
  • Skills to help one detach from emotional pain.
  • How to set healthy boundaries in relationships.
  • Learn to be free to care and take responsibility for your own health and happiness.

Class dates include: Sundays, July 7 to 28.

Cost is $40 per person for each four-week program.

Agnesian HealthCare and the Fond du Lac Family YMCA are partnering with Walk With a Doc to create a safe, walkable community.

The collaborative mission is to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country.

Join providers on Monday through Friday between 8 and 9:30 a.m.; the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month between 5 and 6 p.m.; and Wednesdays between 4 to 5 p.m. to begin your commitment of improved health and well-being.

In addition, Ripon Medical Center providers will be walking at Ripon High School, 850 Tiger Drive, Ripon, the first and third Wednesdays of the month between 6 to 7 p.m.

Step it Up! The Surgeon General of the United States recommends 150 minutes of weekly exercise to:

  • Lower your risk of heart disease and stroke, type 2 diabetes, breast and colon cancers, and depression
  • Maintain or lose weight
  • Boost your energy
  • Improve your sleep
  • Reduce stress
  • Redue your risk of falls
  • Delay the onset of cognitive decline and dementia
  • Increase sense of well-being and more!

The Alzheimer's support group is an open gathering of people with common needs and interests who come together to share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared challenges of dementia in a safe environment. Agnesian HealthCare and The Alzheimer's Association invite individuals caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's Disease and other dementia-related illness to participate in an open gathering to share their feelings, thoughts and experiences to better cope with and manage the shared challenges of Alzheimer's and dementia in a safe environment.

Free respite care is provided for loved ones during the hour of support group.

This group is offered on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The one-hour program covers:

  • Typical age-related changes
  • Common warning signs of Alzheimer’s and dementia
  • How to approach someone about memory concerns
  • Early detection, the benefits of a diagnosis and the diagnostic process
  • Alzheimer’s Association resources

Stretching is an important part of older adult's flexibility and will help offset the effects of normal decline in the flexibility of joints, and help individuals remain active and independent.

Join Natasha Novak, fitness instructor, for a stretching program that incorporates breathing exercises and good posture to relax the body and relieve tension.

RMC Wellness Center members attend at no cost, and should register by calling (920) 745-3620.

Preregistration is required.

With warmer temperatures on the horizon and being in the outdoors more desired, Agnesian HealthCare will be shifting its Walk with a Doc program to the wellness walkway at Ripon Medical Center. This location change is now underway, and will move back to Ripon High School in the fall.

Interested walkers can meet outside the RMC Wellness Center entrance, and will walk on the walking path weather permitting. 

Walk with a Doc sessions are scheduled the first, second and third Wednesday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m.
