Waupun Memorial Hospital receives ventilator

As a critical access hospital, Waupun Memorial Hospital has received a free transport ventilator through the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy.

The new Hamilton T-1 portable ventilator is a perfect complement to the ventilators already in place at Waupun Memorial Hospital. The hospital identified this equipment necessity when planning initial responses to the COVID-19 crisis and potential surge of patients.

Waupun Memorial Hospital is very grateful to have this transport ventilator to support the care of critically ill patients requiring respiratory support. This ventilator, in addition to the ones previously in stock at Waupun Memorial Hospital, has advanced technologies allowing the equipment to be used in a variety of capacities to care for COVID-19 and other respiratory illness impacting patients.

“We are very grateful to have received the Hamilton T-1 vent,” according to Christal Bruesch, Waupun Memorial Hospital lead respiratory therapist. “It’s ease of use and many good features is a great new tool we can use as we care for patients with COVID-19. We’re very fortunate to have a ventilator that is compact and able to gently ventilate lungs that would otherwise be a challenge to ventilate.”
