Waupun Memorial Hospital and Agnesian HealthCare were recognized by the Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce with the Big Business Award as part of their annual Waupunies Awards Night.

DeAnn Thurmer, president and chief nursing officer at Ripon Medical Center and Waupun Memorial Hospital, accepted the award. The award was presented for the ministry’s devotion to helping the Waupun community grow and succeed, which has been done by completing a brand-new facility for the Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center, as well as continued support of sponsoring community events, and commitment to the health and wellness of the community members.

“This award affirms something that many of us already know,” Thurmer says. “Waupun, Wisconsin is truly a remarkable place to live and work. For a small city, we do some big city things, and we should all be very proud of that! We are collaborators always working to enhance the quality of life for our residents and their families. And, the community shares their appreciation for these ongoing efforts.

“It is so rewarding to work alongside those within the Waupun and surrounding communities to make such incredible progress,” Thurmer adds. “We are very honored that we are able to lend our voice and resources to help city and business leaders meet the ever-changing care needs of our city. Together, we can make advancement so much easier and with tremendous input and passion.”

The second annual Waupunies Awards Night was held on Thursday, February 21 at the renovated Bridges at The Rock Golf Course, and included a 2018 review as well as an awards presentation recognizes businesses, organizations, and individuals in the community.

“We had great feedback from last year’s Waupunies, and we were excited to continue the improvements we made, taking this event from an ‘annual meeting’ to an awards ceremony,” according to Tyler Schulz. Chamber board president. “This was my second year being the host for the evening, and it was such a fun atmosphere. We really enjoyed announcing the winners and hearing the great things they had to say about this community.”

The Waupun Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to be the voice of business for Waupun and the surrounding areas, to foster community prosperity, and improve the quality of life through networking, promotion, education and active leadership.
