The Agnesian Pharmacy Waupun, 904 W. Main Street, Waupun, has been offering medication compounding services since it opened more than 20 years ago.  Compounding medications is customizing medications to meet each patient’s specific needs. The Agnesian Pharmacy Waupun can utilize gels, chewables, lollipops, lotions and even chap stick to help with the ingestion of certain medications. The best part is that the pharmacy works with individuals and their provider to come up with a compound customized for their individual health needs. 

The demand for compounding has increased as healthcare providers and patients needs are more individualized.  Medications come in limited numbers of strengths and dosages. Some pharmaceutical companies may stop making a product for which there is limited demand.  Some patients may respond better to commercially unavailable medications. 

Some patients develop allergies to preservatives or dyes in some medications and if they are lactose intolerant this can pose another concern as many medications contain these inert ingredients.  Working with a pharmacist the strength of a medication can be changed, the form of dispensing altered and even flavor can be added.  With “pills” that are harder to swallow this is especially favorable.  Not only does this help the medicine go down but can masks unpleasant after tastes.

There are compounding pharmacists on staff that have been trained to do just this.  All the formulas used are tested and assured for compatibility and stability by the Professional Compounding Center of America (PCCA).

Once an individual is on the program, medication will be delivered on a designated day each week.

• To get medication out of the pack, push the medication through the thin foil backing.
• The days of the week are labeled, as well as the times of the day.
• There will be a prescription label at the top of the card for each drug in the card. The label will have all the necessary information, as well as a physical description of the medication.

The Agnesian Pharmacy does all medication bubble packing for assisted living, long-term care residents and individuals in one location – the Agnesian Pharmacy Waupun. Interested individuals can visit or call any of the Agnesian Pharmacy locations to request that their medications be bubble packed. 

Our associates then work with the Agnesian Pharmacy Waupun to do the actual bubble packing and then have them delivered to you or the Agnesian Pharmacy of your choice. You can still pick up the medications at any of our eight Agnesian Pharmacy locations, or have them delivered to you if you live in our delivery area.
