Ripon Medical Center (RMC) continues to expand its services welcoming new providers to the community. Most recently, RMC patients will benefit from care offered by Xian-feng Gu, MD, a board-certified neurologist with Lakeside Neurocare.
Dr. Gu will see patients at Ripon Medical Center, 933 Newbury Street, starting June 14.
Dr. Gu has been with Lakeside Neurocare for 18 years. He has a collaborative vision to provide patients with comprehensive neurology services, as well as education and encouragement and being an active partner in the management of their neurologic needs. Dr. Gu practices general neurology and has special training in neurodiagnostics.
A neurological evaluation might be helpful if individuals are experiencing the following symptoms: abnormal movements, altered bodily sensation, altered vision, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, confusion, dementia, difficulty walking, dizziness, foot drop, headache, head trauma, hearing loss, hyperactivity, imbalance, incoordination, learning disability, limb pain, loss of bowel/bladder control, loss or alteration of consciousness, loss or alteration of taste or smell, memory loss, neck pain, nerve compression, sciatica, seizure, spinal discomfort, tinnitus (ringing in ears), tremor and vertigo.
“A patient that needs a neurologist, typically is faced with a chronic condition that will need periodic evaluation and ongoing treatment,” according to Dr. Gu. “Some of these conditions are more debilitating than others. Whatever a person’s neurologic condition, we are dedicated to providing healthcare tailored to their individual needs. This is achieved through professional collaboration and teamwork with other healthcare providers and professionals, therapists, social workers and family members.”
A graduate of the Harbin Medical College, China, Dr. Gu completed his neurology residency at the University of Minnesota and a fellowship in neuromuscular disease, EMG from the University of Utah. He also sees patients in Berlin, Fond du Lac and Oshkosh.
