Agnesian HealthCare welcomes obstetrician/gynecologist
June 05, 2013

Agnesian HealthCare’s Fond du Lac Regional Clinic is pleased to welcome board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist Steven Sheppard, DO. He will begin seeing patients at the Ripon Medical Center Primary Care Services clinic, 933 Newbury Street in Ripon, effective June 10.

His welcome to the Ripon community signals the return of birthing services at Ripon Medical Center, after a 10-year absence.

“We are thrilled to offer this service again to Ripon area residents and their families,” according to Katherine Vergos, Ripon Medical Center chief operating officer. “We know this is a service that the community has been requesting, and we are glad to able to offer this level of care, especially through the superior services of Dr. Sheppard.”

As an obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Sheppard provides comprehensive healthcare services to women of all ages, including pregnancy and childbirth, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the female reproductive system, and management of perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.

A graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Sheppard completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the Metropolitan Hospital, Parkview Division. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and is a senior fellow with the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

“I am a strong proponent of preventive healthcare, and I feel patients should be involved in their care,” says Dr. Sheppard. “I think a big part of my job is to educate patients so they can make informed decisions about what is best for their health and the health of their unborn child.”

Dr. Sheppard is relocating from Hanover, Pennsylvania where he has served the last 22 years at Hanover Hospital. He and his wife, Nancy, will be moving to Ripon. They have two children, Scott, 28, and Brian, 27.

“I made the decision to join Agnesian HealthCare because I was excited about helping to rebuild an obstetrics and gynecology program in a hospital that has not had this service for some time,” according to Dr. Sheppard. “I look forward to working with the other physicians on staff who are already a part of this growing system. My wife, Nancy, and I are anxious to become part of the Ripon community.”

Dr. Sheppard enjoys reading, golfing, traveling with his wife and spending time with family.
