Healthy Fond du Lac County 2020 to shed light on mental health stigma
The public is invited to join members of the Healthy Fond du Lac County 2020 Steering Committee as they welcome Richard L. Brown, MD, MPH, who will discuss removing the stigma surrounding mental health and the importance of having access to mental health resources.
The presentation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 in the Agnesian HealthCare Plaza Level Conference Center, 430 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac.
Dr. Brown is a family physician and a tenured professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Family Medicine department. He currently serves as director for the Wisconsin Initiative to Promote Healthy Lifestyles. Their mission is to enhance delivery of behavioral screening and intervention in healthcare settings throughout the state.
The Healthy Fond du Lac County 2020 Steering Committee has been executing the 2012-2015 Fond du Lac County Health Improvement Plan, which establishes goals and measurable objectives to address the four most pressing health concerns in the county. They include the increasing rates of obesity; access to dental care for individuals with Medicaid; access to mental health services; and alcohol use and abuse facing Fond du Lac County.
