For the 15th year running, the Ripon Medical Center (RMC) Triathlon - presented by the Foundation for Ripon Medical Center - is gearing up to bring athletes from all over the country to Green Lake County to swim, ride and run. The triathlon will take to the lake, roads and paths at the Green Lake Conference Center on Sunday, July 28.
Athletes will swim, bike and run one of two courses, long or short. People start training for the event even before the snow has melted, according to Chris Schattschneider, MS, LAT, PES, RMC sports medicine lead and triathlon race director.
“This is an event that people don’t like to miss,” he says. “The course is beautiful, and the volunteers are very friendly.”
In years past, the race has seen people come from as far away as France. This year, Schattschneider says he has racers from Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado and Florida.
Proceeds from the RMC Triathlon go to the Foundation for Ripon Medical Center. The Foundation will use some those proceeds to support a program to measure the effects of concussions in student athletes, as well as help to purchase equipment for the hospital’s new wellness center.
Participants can still sign up the morning of the race for $75 ($70 through July 24). Individuals can also participate as teams with registration day of race at $130 ($125 through July 24).
RMC Triathlon sponsors include: Brewer Heating & Cooling, Summit Fitness, Ripon Kiwanis Club Foundation, Ripon Printers and Wisconsin Institute of Urology.
