Have you raced through water, balanced while walking on planks and sloshed through mud pits with your friends? What are you waiting for? It’s probably the most fun you’ll ever have at a race. Throw on a costume, bring your friends and get downright dirty.
If inspired, then join the Agnesian HealthCare “Edge the Ledge” Adventure Race on Sunday, June 23 at Kiekhaefer Park in Taycheedah.
“Edge the Ledge” is a three-mile adventure race featuring challenging, creative and fun obstacles. Obstacles include, but are not limited to: lateral tire hopping, water crossings, wall leap, hurdle maze, balancing planks and climbing the famous “Edge” overlooking Lake Winnebago. Finish by crawling through a mud pit to complete the event.
The course winds through Kiekhaefer Park, which features well-groomed and hilly trails, woodlands and a small stream. In addition, the park - as part of the Niagara Escarpment - has a high ledge or hill with an overlook tour. There is ample parking on Kiekhaefer Parkway.
This year’s event is expanding to feature fun for children as well. While adults crawl through mud-filled pits, climb up walls and beat up their bodies, the childrens’ races will be easier and cleverly designed to make this a fun event for them.
Children - age five to 10 - are encouraged to enter, and each age group will have their own start beginning at 10:30 a.m. following the adult event. Obstacles will be within the viewing site for parents to watch and staff will provide assistance.
Participants will receive a T-shirt, sport bag and medal. The cost to enter is $15 each, and $10 each for more than two children.
The Kid’s Adventure Race includes a 100-yard dash followed by a series of fun obstacles that are just their size. This exciting event is topped off with a crawl through the mud pit to the finish line.
