Catch the excitement: Agnesian HealthCare Pink Glove Dance premiere set October 25
Join Agnesian HealthCare on Friday, October 25 as it premieres its 2013 Pink Glove Dance video at its hospitals in Fond du Lac, Ripon and Waupun. The public is invited to join the celebrations; pink popcorn will be served.
This year, Agnesian HealthCare partnered with the Fond du Lac Family YMCA to tell the inspiring story of local cancer survivor Keri Sabel and the community that rallied together to show their support… and their best dance moves!
The Pink Glove Dance is a national video competition designed to raise awareness of breast cancer. Organizations across the country compete for the most votes to win $25,000 for their cancer charity of choice. Last year, Agnesian HealthCare’s Pink Glove Dance video ranked in the top 10 percent nationwide!
“I want people to know that cancer is what you make it,” says Sabel. “The way I look at it, it’s a little bump in the road. But for me it’s never been ‘the end.’ You can easily take the road of negativity, but why? Laugh! Dance! You have the power to make it positive.”
The Pink Glove Dance video will be shown from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (video will be shown throughout two-hour time so public can stop at any time) on Friday, October 25 at the following locations:
- Ripon Medical Center Green Lake Room
- St. Agnes Hospital Plaza Level Conference Center
- Waupun Memorial Hospital St. Francis Home
Three years ago, when Medline produced the original Pink Glove Dance video to raise breast cancer awareness, little did it know the video would take on a life of its own. The video has since generated more than 14 million views on YouTube and inspired countless pink glove dance videos and events around the world.
The first Pink Glove Dance video debuted on YouTube® in 2009, featuring 200 hospital workers wearing pink gloves and dancing in support of breast cancer awareness and prevention. Today, the original video has almost 14 million views. This social media phenomenon inspired a nationwide Pink Glove Dance video contest hosted by Medline, the maker of those famous pink gloves.
“My battle with cancer was never just about me,” Sabel recalls. “The Pink Glove Dance isn’t about me either. But I realize that my story is representative of so many other stories. By being the ‘face’ of the Pink Glove Dance, I’m hoping to remind those battling cancer that they’re not alone.”
Join the pink glove movement by voting from October 25 to November 8 by visiting www.agnesian.com/pinkglovedance.
Top prize in the Pink Glove Dance 2013 competition is $25,000. Any prize money received will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
