YMCA and Agnesian HealthCare collaborate to present Color Burst 5K
Enjoy being a human canvas and supporting a good cause? And, benefitting from some physical activity? Then the Agnesian HealthCare Color Burst 5K is just right for you!
“Agnesian HealthCare is fully committed to helping provide different ways for individuals and families to have fun and live a healthier lifestyle,” according to Holly Brenner, Fond du Lac Family YMCA Board of Directors president and Agnesian HealthCare director of Business Development. “By supporting this new event, we can work toward achieving this goal, and show our commitment to other organizations, like the YMCA, that share our common vision of wellness. This new 5K run will help benefit the Fond du Lac Family YMCA Annual Support Campaign. It is scheduled on Saturday, May 11 at Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park. Participants will run a course looping through and around the park to experience an explosion of color.
“The YMCA believes that making healthy choices that are enjoyable are critical to a successful life journey, so the YMCA in partnership with Sunny 97.7 and Agnesian HealthCare is excited to bring the Color Burst 5K to Fond du Lac as a way to combine healthy choices with enjoyable experiences,” according to Greg Giles, Fond du Lac Family YMCA chief executive officer and executive director.
Participation fees are $30 for adults 18 and over, and $20 for children 17 and under. The race is limited to 600 participants with registration available in person at the Fond du Lac YMCA or on-line at fdlymca.org.
Here’s how it works. Runners will receive a white T-shirt to be their “canvas” as they get blitzed with color at four specified posts throughout the run. While all products used are safe, runners should consider wearing goggles and possibly a bandana around their mouths to avoid the chalky taste. The further you get in the race, the more you will see the beautiful transformation of color on you and your shirt!
Additional Agnesian HealthCare Color Burst 5K sponsors include: Grande Cheese, Michels Corporation, Record Entertainment, Boys and Girls Club of Fond du Lac, Attitude Sports, and 96-1 TCX and Sunny 977.
Participants are encouraged to take their time and enjoy the event as the run is not timed. After the race concludes, refreshments and festivities will begin. Everyone is encouraged to hang around and enjoy the party. Just make sure to bring a change of clothes, shoes and even a plastic bag to take your multi-colored garments home in!
