In honor of National Volunteer Week, Agnesian HealthCare Hospice Hope office in Green Lake recently honored its volunteers during a recognition luncheon at Royal Ridges in Ripon. The theme for 2013 focused on Living Our Mission, A Spirit of Hope recognizing volunteers and the work they do throughout the year. Approximately 45 volunteers and associates were present.
The Green Lake office provides care to individuals and families geographically from Wautoma and Wild Rose, to Montello and Markesan, and over to Ripon and Omro.
Andy Land, Agnesian HealthCare director of Hospice and Palliative Care, spoke on the healing ministry of hospice to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families. He shared information about the implementation of Palliative Care Services within Agnesian HealthCare, which extends the quality of life support to individuals and their families experiencing ongoing, long-term illness.
Music entertainment was provided by Ripon High School Choral group “Cantabile.”The group of young women sang songs acapella, energizing and delighting attendees.
“We have approximately 60 active volunteers in the Green Lake service area, and we are very blessed and honored by their dedication, time and commitment to the work of Hospice Hope,” says Cathy Wolfe, Agnesian HealthCare Volunteer Services coordinator. “It is a privilege to work with each of the hospice volunteers since they bring many compassionate gifts and a comforting peace to those individuals facing the end of life. Love truly flows from heart to heart. Hospice Hope is blessed to have these dedicated individuals.”
Special recognition was given to Adele DeVries, Richard Brus and Elizabeth Buchen for more than 20 years of service. Joslyn Anderson was recognized for 15 years of service. Virginia Casper was recognized for 10 years of service. Josette Antony, Carol Dibble, Beth Haffele, Mary Kuphal and Jolene McGuire were recognized for five years of service.
This past year, Hospice Hope’s Green Lake volunteers donated 3,023 hours of their time to serve patients, family and associates. They also logged 35,591 miles through their volunteer work.
