Class #1 - Getting Started

There’s a lot to Know about healthy living. This introduction to important health topics will help participants Go and make an impact on their overall lifestyles. Learn about United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommendations, “top ten” health tips and what you need to know about the glycemic index. 

Class #2 - Grocery Shopping/Label Reading

The grocery store can be a maze of choices. But with good insight, shoppers can easily make healthy choices for themselves and their families. This session will look at grocery stores layout and marketing strategies; optimize shopping techniques to choose healthier products; review the NuVal system; and share efficient label reading techniques to minimize time spent at store and in food preparation. 

Class #3 – Stress Management

Emotions can lead to poor food choices. Join an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider to learn more about how to more effectively manage your stress, including a breathing techniques and progressive muscle relaxation demonstration.  Review emotional eating and mindful eating behaviors with objective recommendations to help determine hunger.

Class #4 – Understanding Dietary Recommendations

The news is filled with stories about how to eat healthier and recommendations from various experts about the best practices. During this session, an Agnesian HealthCare dietitian will help cut through this clutter and review current dietary recommendations of various organizations (American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, etc.) for health conditions. She will also review fad diets and weight loss medications.

Class #5 – Exercise is the Key!

A healthy diet, coupled with exercise, is a perfect combination for a healthier and happier life. An Agnesian HealthCare personal trainer will share the benefits of exercise, and demonstrate various exercises for cardio, strength, stretching and balance with the opportunity to participate in exercises. 

Class #6 – Eating Out

There are many reasons that individuals enjoy eating out. However, without appropriate planning and knowledge, eating out can lead to needless calories. Join this Agnesian HealthCare Healthy Living program to better understand recommendations for making healthy choices while eating at restaurant. This session will feature a cooking demonstration with local area chef with opportunity to taste variety of healthy foods.          

What Do I Need to Know to Register?

Most health insurance companies will reimburse you for program costs. Qualifying conditions can include: obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and depression.

Sessions are conducted at Fond du Lac Regional Clinic West, 912 W. Hickory Street, Fond du Lac.
