Swallowing for a Lifetime
Time:
6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Location: , ,
Contact: ,
Location: Agnesian HealthCare Plaza Level Conference Center, 430 E. Division Street Cost: $5 per person Swallowing difficultyis the inability to swallow foods or liquids with ease. People that have a hard time swallowing may choke on their food or liquid when trying to swallow. Another medical name for swallowing difficulty is dysphagia. This symptom isn’t always indicative of a medical condition. In fact, swallowing difficulty may be temporary and go away on its own. Join Kerry Winget, AuD, CCC-SLP/A, a certified speech language pathologist with Agnesian HealthCare, as she shares information about the normal effects of aging on the swallowing process, and how this can affect swallowing safety in the mouth and throat. Common signs and symptoms of swallowing difficulty will be discussed. Basic exercises to strengthen the swallow and strategies for pill swallowing will be introduced.
