The Agnesian HealthCare Volunteers are offering four $1000 scholarships again this year to area students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in a healthcare field, as well as one $500 scholarship to a student pursuing a technical college degree in a healthcare field. The purpose of these awards is to encourage students who have shown excellence in scholastic achievement and demonstrated an interest in the pursuit of a healthcare career. Area high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in healthcare are invited to apply for scholarships offered by the Ripon Medical Center Associates, Inc. and the Arlene Fenner Family Endowed Scholarship Fund. Two $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship are being offered to eligible students who reside in the Ripon Medical Center service area. Applications are available at area high school guidance offices and on-line at volunteer opportunities @Agnesian HealthCare.com. At St. Agnes Hospital and the Fond du Lac Regional Clinic, men, women, college students, retirees and teenagers (minimum age of 14 years) from all walks of life give approximately three to four hours a week in volunteer service.

Currently, there are more than 575 active adult volunteers and 70 teen summer volunteers who work in many different areas. As a volunteer you will have the chance to choose from a variety of positions through the Volunteer Services Department. The tasks vary depending on the area you work in.

The spirit of volunteerism at Ripon Medical Center began in 1941 when four women dreamed about starting a hospital auxiliary. More than 16,000 hours of volunteer service were given last year by men, women and students within the community who dedicated time to patients, associates and family members. Volunteering is both fun and challenging! people volunteer for a wide range of reasons.

Waupun Memorial Hospital offers many exciting opportunities to serve hospital patients and visitors by becoming an Information Desk volunteer. Volunteers can greet people as they enter the hospital, provide directions or escort them to their destination. They also assist in other areas to help ensure the flow of services benefiting our patients.

Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

Waupun Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary is an integral part of the organization. Each year the auxilians plan and implement community and fund-raising events, such as the Book and Bake Sale, Tour of Homes, Style Show and Card Party, and the annual Love Lights Ceremony. Proceeds raised at these events are used to enhance hospital services, assist the Samaritan Health Clinic at Waupun Memorial Hospital and provide scholarships to medical students. The Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is always looking for new members.

More than 100 adult and youth volunteers donate more than 700 hours every month at St. Francis Home. Some volunteers provide companionship and a friendly smile as "Friendly Visitors." Many deliver mail, pass trays at meals or assist residents with daily activities. Join our family of volunteers in our commitment to meet the changing needs of older adults. The Hospice Home of Hope is a 12-bed residential facility, located on County Road K, that provides comfort care to individuals with a life expectancy of less than six months. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting patients and families by offering assistance with personal cares, respite care, running errands, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation and emotional support. They also provide clerical assistance in the hospice office.

Agnesian HealthCare's Hospice Hope relies on volunteers of all ages to help provide comfort to patients in its traditional in-home hospice program, both in the Fond du Lac and Green Lake areas, as well as its new Hospice Home of Hope.

Giving just a few hours a week can make a difference to patients and families who are dealing with a life-threatening illness.
